That's not a helmet.

Anything that keeps one hand busy while you're welding is a distraction.

I have never seen that kind of helmet. What kind of welding are they generally used for?

I've been hearin about pancake hoods for awhile now. Some people seem to love em. With the way the goggles are setup it looks like it would block out light nicely and they do come with straps so you don't have to hold it with one hand.

If I wanted one, I wonder if that helmet comes with a welder or a welder comes with that helmet.....

It looks like it has a grind mode too. Just remove the glasses and squint.

NON squint in Asia--is NOT an option. They come fro the factory that way. 8-)

That first picture was what they call a pancake hood. My brother in law is a pipeline welder and absolutely loves his. It has a wooden goggle type piece inside that seals to your face so light doesn't get in. They have a strap that you can tighten to your head like oxy- acetylene goggles. It is very light and is auto darkening. He swears by them.
