Clamps are my best friend. Magnetic, vise grips, bar clamps, c clamps....it doesn't matter. And like friends, you can never have enough clamps. :)

Just joined recently, but I stumbled across a "magnetic welding block" at HF that I have been using a lot.

Sometimes it's actually too strong, but love the fact that I can put a clamping point for my ground just about anywhere on my project.

@Other Steve,
I'm with you on the clamps, but I'm quite sure that you can have too many friends.

I am having a small love affair with clamps lately lol. I could spend a fortune on more clamps and I don't think I would have enough even then.

Ah. That makes more sense. Clever and simple!

Jody's showed a related trick using a short length of stripped welding cable to wrap around odd shapes like pipes where you can't clamp (and aluminum or stainless where magnet isn't an option). He ties a knot in each end to keep it from unravelling.

I wish mine had a warranty on it. I had it for about a month and I have been rough on it because it is nearly unusable. I still manage though, too cheap to buy another one right now. I really do love that thing. Especially when free handing a large sign with the plasma it slides so easily making it easier to free hand steadily.

That little finger flashlight looks like a cool item! Of course the TIG finger is also!
Where did you come across that flashlight?
