Well I was able to get one of these with my new Maxstar setup at work, and all I can say is awesome. I thought it may just be an extravagant purchase but being able to just slide it around working on a large project with no wore in the way is truly a nice feature.

So if you don't have one of these do more then just weld at a table these are worth every penny and you don't know what your missing.
I weld stainless, stainless and more stainless...Food Industry, sanitary process piping, vessels, whatever is needed, I like to make stuff.

I've always wondered, why foot pedals are so expensive?
The components are a switch, a potentiometer, a metal box, some wire and a connector.

I bought a radio controlled model helicopter for $30 that is able to be controlled without any wires, so if I think a bit outside of the box for a moment, how hard would it be to control a welder in the same fashion? If the batteries go dead on my radio control, the helicopter knows to shutdown the motor, so why not have the same feature in a home brewed wireless amperage control for my welders?

This would probably be a very lucrative business, for anyone who is up to the challenge.

All I can say is I agree, we had them at my last job on dynasty's and they are great. I've been thinking on how to build one for my htp.
