My least favorite......at one time I did work in a local stamping factory. We would go down into the pits where the conveyors ran and make repairs and installs. You always got metal splinters and ha to throw away whatever you were wearing, gloves, welding jackets, everything. Once you start a repair you don't stop until its done.

That would stink, I hate metal splinters worse than wooden ones.

Galvanized ranks high on my list also lately I've had to deal with a bunch of parts at work that should have been welded but they were silver soildered....trying to get all of that crap out so I can tig frustrates me to say the least.

I don't mind rusty unless it is mig, galvanized is as bad as painted in my opinion. :)

Pontoon boats. It's been known for years not to use carpeted trailer bunks for aluminum boats destined for salt water but you can't convince their owners. Nothing like welding dozens of salted pits in aluminum overhead and watching them grow to 3 times their size in an instant.

I have never done it but I have heard horror stories of pontoon welding.

Aluminum that has been in cryogenic service for 40 years. Steel that has been in CO service for any amount of time.

I hear you on that one. I had to repair a disk harrow that someone had put together with bubble gum about 40 years ago. I swear it took a whole grinding wheel to get that crap off. I never would have thought that those welds would have held that long

Fencing. Oh dear god, the fencing.

And anything an uninformed friend, family member, etc. thinks "ought to be alright" even after I've politely explained the limitations of 110 volt MIG.

But still, the fencing. How I hate it.
