Greetings everyone. At last, the doc has ok'd me to get off bed rest and resume normal activity. I have finally had a chance to play around a bit with my 280dx. So far it has exceeded all my expectations. I'll be doing more in the coming days for sure but it's great to be back in the shop :D

Good on ya, welcome back! Looks like you have a lot of shop space to work with.

I always look for clues in the photos, can't help it. And I realize that photo may have been staged, a photo op, so it doesn't represent your standard operating practice, and you know your situation best. Would it be an idea to cover up with a fireproof blanket? I've had painful encounters with sparks falling into my shoes, for instance.

Sorry, don't mean to nag, that's the last thing you want to hear when the doc gives you the green light. But many honeymoons start under a blanket!

Artie's got a point!

Buy a "reject" half-cow worth of leather from a local upholsterer. Tell him why you need it, and he'll probably find you the right slab for cheap, and then you have a heavy leather blanket to protect your non-sensitive areas (and everything else) from burns.

Just expanding on a thought...

Busted! I have leather apron, boot covers and the works. Old habits die hard. I was making a couple quick tacks and neglected to grab all my safety stuff. One would think I'd learn eventually...
