Cold weather welding gloves

Can anyone recommend welding gloves that are good in cold weather? I weld in my unheated barn and get cold fingers when the temperature is below freezing. My current gloves are cloth lined pigskin Razorback brand that I picked up at the local farm store. They're fairly nice for cheap gloves and will serve me well in warmer weather.

That's a tough one, MartinB,

All gloves will be a trade-off between insulation and dexterity.

Someone once posted good reviews here for the " 'Ove Glove", as seen on TV. They certainly have high insulation value, but I'm iffy on the dexterity.

Tillman makes a MIG-specific glove that has good mobility, but heavier insulation than a standard TIG glove.

When working outside in Iowa in winter, I kept heavy gloves inside my coveralls to keep them warm while wearing goatskin gloves to weld, then would swap them after each completion. For multiple welds, I would warm my hands on the recently welded pipe before beginning the next.

It was a "deal with it" situation.

I doubt any of this is helpful.

Thanks Steve. I guess I was dealing with it the same way. I kept my warm (non-welding) gloves inside my jacket while welding, and switched them for the welding gloves when I could. Today I tried some thin jersey gloves inside the welding gloves but it was too tight of a fit. Lately, my welding has just been practice on the weekends. I'm saving any actual projects for warmer weather. Unfortunately it looks like that will be a while. The forecast high temperature this weekend is around zero degrees Fahrenheit. :(

If you're just practicing, get some heavy plate and crank up the amps. those welding gloves will be toasty soon enough
Cheers.
