Does any one know what the expected average run hours are for a gas or diesel machine if all the recommended maint is done?

How long is a piece of string?
Engine capacity, numbers of cylinders, revs, load, petrol or diesel or lpg, wet cold/hot dry, fuel injected or carburrated and size of the fuel tank will all make a difference.
So which particular piece of equipment are you refering to?

Just in general. Like with some small engines on chainsaws they actually come with an hour rating.
But if I had to pick it would probably be a newer fuel injected model. 300 or bigger able to arc gouge and capable of three phase power. As far as gas or diesel it would depend on motor manufacturer.

I've seen well over 10,000 hrs. On a four cyl. VW diesel that we use to unload cryo trailers. They run @ 4200 rpm's for about an hour @ a time.

You will have to come with a specific model you are looking at. I've heard of some that will get to 10, 15 ,20k on the hour meter and I've heard of some that have a problem making it to 200.

Look on the sales material if they mention B10 or B50 values (might be L10 in the states). Thats a value of how long they are expected to run before 10% vs 50% need major engine rework. Some says that means either drop the oil pan or remove the heads.

I'm thinking the Lincoln ranger 305 D. With the Kubota D722 3 cylinder.

Are you asking total running hours before a rebuild or how long it runs to a tank of fuel?

I plan on regular maint if I get a new machine and my truck will sit outside so my welder can have garage space.

It's all about MAINTENANCE.
You can see 5,000-10,000 hours on a gas or diesel, IF YOU TAKE CARE OF IT!

Sound thinking.

In my world it's all about generators to run tyre warmers at the track. The guys who consider generators to be 'disposable' are the ones who just add fuel, and in between race weekends ignore their gennies. The wise owls are the ones with gennies that are 10 years old and look like rubbish, but never stop...because after each race weekend, not just the race bikes but the generator is treated to fresh oil and some basic maintenance.

There's a lot to be said for mechanical sympathy.
