Padding Beads with 7018

When I visited Tulsa Welding School (Jacksonville FL campus) I learned they start off welders padding beads with 7018.
most schools seem to use 6013.
I think that might be pretty smart for schools to go ahead and start with 7018.

It's great you have 30 years in the Biz and you are still trying to grow and learn! Doing it right! Never plateau!

Jody,
That does make sense, practice with what they will use instead of the 6013. I need to pad some beads again, its been a while since I have done that with SMAW.

Thanks for occasionally showing a basic welding video.

For us non-technical and farm guys it is a pleasure to watch a master at work. And there is no attempt to cover up an occasional miscue. It lets us know that our efforts are not so out-of-whack as we sometimes think they are.

Very impressive.

GWD,

That's a teacher! Someone who will show you what went wrong and why is more valuable than the guy who edits out his own mistakes.

I love to post my successes, but in this commumity, I'm comfortable sharing my failures as well. No one here will mock or laugh, but rather study and learn.
