Been watching Jody's vids for a long time now..Decided I might have a few questions so figured I better join.

I put down commercial welder in my sign up process as I'm an excavation contractor so weld on stuff that has to stay together in a harsh environment in order to make money. But never took or passed any kind of certification just so were clear about that. I'm sure I will learn a thing or 3 here.

If you're an excavating contractor, then you're a full time welder and a part time operator if your equipment is anything like most of the equipment I've been around. :) Moving dirt is hard on steel especially in the cold weather.

There's something to be learned here no matter what kind of welder you are or claim to be. This is a nice place to learn about all things welding and fabricating because there's not someone beating you over the head for asking questions that seem elementry to them.

Welcome to the forum. I spent my career working for an excavating/paving contractor so that's primarily the same kind of welding I have experience with. I'm sure you'll find much to like here.
Cheers.
