Hi Gents, I,m a 45 year old classic car restorer and am rebuilding a 1969 Morris minor GPO postal engineering van at home and at work have just progress to working on Aston Martins so will like some help with Tig welding 50 year old alloy.
Or would you gents use Gas welding on old alloy cars ? .

Cheers Matt.

HI Matt,

I've been TIG welding for a long time and I would definitely recommend TIG for Alloy car bodies. I have welded BMW car bonnets as the 5 series has an aluminium body. I've also welded a broken shock mount on the chassis of a 5 series. In the case of steel car bodies I use TIG brazing with silicon Bronze as you get less distortion than welding.
