I want to make a plasma cutting table. Not an elaborate one. The question for me is the size slats. I was thinking about 1/8 inch or 1/4 inch thickness. I'm repurposing a rectangle I found in the scrap pile for the table and will cut in grooves for the slats. Not having used my new Hypertherm 30XP plasma cutter a lot, I'm not sure how well 1/8 inch thick slats would hold up. Or, is 1/4 inch to much? I think 1/2 inch slats would clearly be overkill.
