Help, I have an Airco track torch with 3 hoses!

I got a track torch on auction from a school district. It uses three hoses, Red, Green and Black. The red and green hoses go to the Oxy and Ace; no problem.
Any advice on what I should/can use with the black hose; it goes to the center larger opening in the cutting tip. My thoughts are,
1) My with a different regulator set at a higher pressure, Oxy.
2) CO2 with it's own supply.
3) Filtered air from my compressor.
If any one has observed the standard gas for the black hose/center tip opening PLEASE let me know.
Thanks, Paul

You should be able to find info from the manufacturer. If you know the model number of the torch and the model of the tip. Depending on the torch body and the head it may be any one of those gasses, or just one.

Would you contact Miller on that since they bought out Airco?

With the model numbers of the torch body and the tip info I’m guessing you might find old product info on the www.

Here is a listing of someone on eBay who apparently deals with these torches a lot.

Maybe a quick email to the seller.

Here is a manual for a different brand, but it lists two of the hoses for oxygen. Probably so you can get enough flow and control for both actions of the cutting head.

I run a " normal " Boc Pug & an old line following optic profile cutter - both use the 3 line head as in the picture below - the hoses go to the mixer valve block & the two oxy lines have separate valves to adjust flame & cut flow but are joined to a common supply so there are only two hoses going to the cylinders - I guess for certain specialist applications a different gas could be used for the cut jet but I have never seen this done or really see why it would be necessary.

Your Airco Radiagraph does not take 3 hoses. The machine torch currently held in your Radiagraph takes 3 hoses. 3 hose machine torches are often used when cutting thicker steel. Usually they are used with 2 oxygen tanks and a fuel gas tank. Each tank has a regulator and a hose. One oxygen hose is used for preheat (the little needles around the main cutting orifice) and the other is used for cutting oxygen. All torch manufacturers make 3 hose machine torches and have published tip charts for them.
If you are curious about a cutting torch's manufacturer, it helps some to post a clear digital photograph of the torch. But it is much more effective to take out the cutting tip and take a clear closeup photo of just the tip. It is impossible to miss the differences between a Victor, Harris or Airco cutting tip. But the torches all look similar.
I have parts for Airco Radiagraphs. I live just outside of Seattle, Washington.
