Lincoln dc 225/a3 issues

Hey Guys...i have a Lincoln dc-225/a3 welder. After sitting for several months it seems to have an "intermittent arc". Basically, it acts as if the amperage is way to low even at 200 amps. Occasionally it will weld perfectly but 90% of the time it weak. I cleaned the brushes and armature (both looked to be in great shape). I'm really just looking for advice on what part i need to replace...thanks!

Check your ground connection and stinger make sure everything is tight and no frayed or cuts wires or melted insulation

Switch the amperage dial back and forth a few notches....

Works when my ranger has trouble like that....

Solid advice. Sometimes it's as simple as dirty contacts. How many of us actually take the cover off and blow the dust out every six months? I usually do it when I have a problem...

It was just a gee wizz thing....

A lot of thing fix themselves.

Like one time my tractor got stuck in two gears.

Shut it down, left, came back the next day, and it was fixed!!

No pulling the cover off or nothing!!

Make sure all your settings are correct....

Try everything..... then ask for help.

Stuff like that drives me nuts. SOMETHING must have happened to it to make it do that. I've always thought it was naive to think that the problem "fixed" itself. Sure it went away for awhile, but it's bound to creep back up later... Meanwhile, it probably just needs some tranny fluid!

O.k...so I got everything straightened out. Ended up that I had a stuck intake valve on one cylinder. Took everything apart and polished up the valve...reassembled and bam...right back to its old self!

Sometimes its the simplest thing that makes us pull our hair out....
