3/32" 6013 is way too big for that job - probably overheat and burn a hole right through itAKweldshop wrote:Excellent!! For starters....MinnesotaDave wrote:Looks like it's coming along pretty goodAKweldshop wrote:Let the bashing begin.

Oh, almost forgot to follow instructions..."wrong rods", "wrong amps", "that'll never work".....
How's that?
I probabbly will grind the corners down.
Neat idea on the circle burner. I have one somewhere.
I apologize for showing pictures of the slag.
I ran three passes on each of the sides, I'll get pics of those.
Should be interesting.
Don't think I'm fishing for compliments when I post pics of my work.
It's humble work. No need for bragging.
I'll have it done today, I'll make a video of it functioning.
Maybe I ought to grind the welds out. I just got a 5lb box of 3/32 6013.
What do you think??

Really now, lets let this 6013 go.... Put it behind us.
I've used 7018 for years, proven itself many times over.
Been using 6013 for a few minutes, and decided I can do better.
7018 out...
I prolly could of used 3/16 8018 for this, but, she'l hold with 1/8 7018.
BTW,
I used my Invertec 200.
Very nice machine!!
More pics this afternoon.

I think I'll grind them out and use 5/32 7024, 2 passes at 200amps.
She's complete.
More pics tonight.

I know a bad ass welder than can run 7024 forewards AND backwards!
Seriously though, if you want something done right, you gotta forge weld it....

Well,
She's done.
They are 26inches apart closed, and slide out to 75inches.
They past the first test.

Thanks Jonathan.
I think I will grind those welds out, and use a bigger rod...
But it passes the 2,000lb test great!!
Thanks for putting up with this long project, I'm sure I'm not the only one glad to see it finished...

Don't grind them out, just add to them and make a bigger fillet. Unless they were not good welds which I am sure they are. Grinding them out will be for nothing in my opinion.
