as has been seen here I'm looking for a welder. what do you guys think of this unit. I know it doesn't work but what would it cost to fix worst case scenario?

Depends whats wrong with it.
Does it power on?? Does it weld??
Many many varibles.
Call the seller and talk to him.
And if possible get on a welding forum and ask for some help.

First off, ask the seller if it turns on.
If it does not, than there's probably 25 possible problems....
Ask the seller if he was using it when it when it quit working.
Ask him what the symptoms, what the actual problem is.
Ask him if he has an outlet to plug it into.
Ask him everything!!!!!!!!
Ask him where it came from, ask him EVERYTHING!!!!!
I could think of 100dreds of questions, but the main one is whats wrong with it.
Thats a multi thousand dollar machine new, and $125.....

Which means it's a Constant Voltage machine, so likely MIG and FCAW only.
Plus, they may be three phase machines.
