One inch thick plate x 6 inch wide, it took me quite some time and most of a nine inch grinding wheel. I think it was cast steel. Kept intervals temp at 250 to 350 Fahrenheit. What you guys think?

Double vee butt preparation, interpass temp control, good rods, good beads with toes wettted in, reinforced caps over full penetration weld.

All looks real good to me. The only thing or proviso's I could possibly add are:
- rods were new out of packet or rod oven
- the ends should be filled (if not already done so) and smoothed to prevent crack propagation if one decides to start there.
- what specification is the parent metal, is a 70ksi rod appropriate for the parent?

Otherwise great job well done!

Brand new carton of lincoln excalibur rods. Like them very much. 125 amps on the dial, arc force set at 3. DC reverse polarity. I did tie in the edges with stringer beads lenghtwise.
