Patience And practice is always the key to that test! I have failed it once and passed it twice on pipe.

Also, round the edges off the the coupons before bending. The sharp edges can lead to a stress failure (not what you have here)

Like Mike said! And I usually polish it with a flapper wheel while keeping the grinding marks going in the direction of the bend not crosswise.

I din't realise they were going along the weld. Yep, always grind at 90 degrees to the weld. ( a good rule in everything, not just tests)
