My boss, who is not a welder, has just asked me to find a way to weld studs using out stick welder.
The reason we need a stud welder is because the surface we're welding to is under 6" of insulation; we're attaching studs to it.
There's no way they're going to buy a stud welder.
Please help me

That’s going to take a lot of welder, and a lot of practice. Even if you do thousands of tests and do get it to work it’s not going to stand up to any engineering standards, without years of documentation.

I was was looking for the same thing a few years ago. Maybe just buying a stud gun and connecting it to a stick welder. That was pretty short lived when I found out most stud welders go well above 1,500 amps. I have yet to find a stick welder that will do that...

What are you wanting to weld the studs to? What kind of insulation? What are and How heavy are the "studs"? What are the studs going to hold? Horizontal, vertical, overhead?
