Stick Welding Tips, Certification tests, machines, projects

Hi all! I looked at these weldments in a chair used in a waiting lobby..I thought they might have used SMAW for these welds. But, there is quiet a possibility of using GMAW/ FCAW. I'm unable to fix my mind on one of them.. how do i decide? Thanks for your help in advance..

unless the chairs were hand made and not massed produced, there is no way anyone would really choose SMAW for that. Its too inefficient. It has to be some kind of wire welding process, and likely done by a robot in China.
