Rod thoughts for new 4" schedule 40 pipe

Hello everyone, new to the forum.
I'm in the process of building a new gate and entrance to our place. I'm using new 4" schedule 40 pipe for the entrance. Most of what I read suggests a root pass using 6011 then cover with 7018. I'll be using the Hobart 200 multiprocess DC inverter machine and I believe it's not capable of running a 6010.
With this being new pipe and if the joints are cleaned to shiny metal, should I still use the 6011 or can I get away with just running a 7018?
I've been welding for 30 years or so but just little projects hear and there so I'm certainly no expert.
Your expert advice is appreciated.
