Hello everybody,
Newbie here on this forum... I have a little concern...
I am using 3/32 rods; one is 7018 Blue Demon and the other is Lincoln Fleetweld 47 7014...
No problem with 7018 BDemon... but the the Lincoln FW 7014, the arc keep shutting down. Both have a similar range in Amp; I use both at 80-85 amp.
I have heard of problems the other way round... I have no cues.
My machine is a Thermal Arc 141i.
Do you have an idea?
Thanks!

Too cold. Start at the top of the current range for the 7014s. In 2.5mm should be about 100amps and go 5 amps each adjustment to find sweet spot if 100 is too hot.
7018s will get going on low amps but not great welds. Bottom of range is a good start for vertical ups, may even need to go a touch lower to get a nice cap run.
And top is usually good for downhand fillet and can go over a bit.
It is a guide only, but a decent one. Handspeed, arc length, angle etc all add to it. Hope it helps.

i think your amps is about right. the 7014 3/32 is 75-95 amp range.Rodbelan wrote: ↑Wed Oct 13, 2021 11:12 am Hello everybody,

what typically screws people up with rutile rods is rod angle. you really have to lean it back and use that arc to blow the slag back to stop it running over the puddle.
you can't weld through rutile slag like you can with 7018. the rutile will just drown the arc, cause slag inclusions and even put the arc out.
tweak it until it breaks
