When stick welding, I've been told the only real way to get a good weld, was to use a AC/DC Reverse Polarity machine is this true or not?
Why is this the best machine?
What are the best rods to use on one of these machines, Root-Filler-& Cover? Thanks in advance for you in put Brandy!

It all depends on what it is you're trying to weld and what electrodes you're using to do the welding. Is it an open root? Is there a backing plate?

I agree with BlackCat. Much more needs to be known about what you want to do, what you are working on, etc. - be specific.

Lots of things have been put together with AC only stick machines and stay together very well. DC is easier, smoother, and looks nicer.

DC also has more rods available for specific tasks or specific parts of a multiple pass weld.
