Welding Tips and Tricks

Hey chaps and chapettes,

Does anyone know anything about gen welders like these?

I thought all gens were dc except for high end ones like the milllers and lincolns.

An ac one would have to be more expensive due to more parts right? (a mate was talking about an ac gen for 200 bucks cheaper than a dc one.) In this case i am only a pretty face.

When I buy anything I always make sure that I can gets parts and they are readily available ..

Old aircraft generators made popular welders after WW2. I have several $50 units that I have collected over the years. In Canada, companies like Princess Auto were selling these as complete kits with either a tractor PTO setup or a drive pulley system for fitting to a small engine as a power plant. They typically run at 30 volts 400-600 amps.
