I weld mainly with 7018 and 6011 on a stick DC inverter. I also weld with 6013! In my opinion you can run a decent bead with 6013 as long as you have it set right. 6013 gets a bad reputation and is underestimated as well. I would just like to see what kind of beads other people are laying. I would mainly like to see replies that have the following:

- Position
- Machine (settings and polarity)
- Electrode (brand and diameter)
- Material being welded

Thanks everyone and I look forward to starting a positive and productive thread!

Thanks for the welcome Mike!

Here is something to get this thread going. I will post more pics in the following week when i have a chance to tinker around in my shop. If you have any ideas for something you would like to see let me know and maybe I can do it. Here is a saddle joint pic I had in my phone from an old job. I weld pretty frequently but have not thought to take pictures of any of it but I am going to start now. (with the 6013 anyway).

Forney Easy Weld DC Inverter (Electrode +)
Forney 3/32 6013 Welding Electrode
90 Amps
2 1/2 in. diameter 1/8 thick pipe

Thanks everyone.

I'll see if I can use 6013 on some stuff this weekend. I've gotten accustomed to the quick-freeze characteristic of 6010 and 6011. I find 6013 ok, a bit "runny" because of the slow-freezing puddle, but I'm sure it all has to do with settings and technique.

Welcome, findthis_1.
A name or nickname we could call you would make conversation easier...

Here's a project I used a lot of 6013 on recently:

It's great for thin stuff because of the shallow penetration, and I believe that's what it was designed for.

Just leave your username like it is and put your real name at the end of your post. I put "Larry" at the end of mine because that's my name too. ;-)

Great pictures Bugel, That is exactly the kind of stuff I am after ! ! ! Your beads are superb. What rod diameter, machine, amperage, position? I didn't have enough time this weekend to lay any beads. I have an upcoming project that I am really looking forward to posting pics of. Thanks for your contribution to my thread! Take care Bugel
