That little sculpture was the result of about two weeks of effort.
The welding was done using my Weco 171T DC machine with a CK-9 and SSC foot pedal.
Most of the 'fill rod' was double-twisted lengths of mig wire due to the small working size.
What doesn't show is all the cutting and machining work.
If memory serves I spent something like four hours on the hands alone. Many of the other component 'parts' of the sculpture (table, flower, cat, etc) also represent some hefty chunks of quality time.

With all the detail in the hands I don't doubt that you had 4 hours into making them, you have more patients than I sir. :)

So this isnt really a what I welded today but this commercial features some of our work. The overhead sign that says "historic downtown port st joe" is ours, we also built the lighted marquee outside the theater and we rehabbed the letters on top of the theater that say "port theater".

Practiced a lap joint (3mm stainless steel) after getting inspired from listening to the WTT podcast. Unfortunately I didn't have any more material to continue practicing with so I could only do this one.
Some of the welds came out better than I have managed in the past so there is some progress. A week before I welded a 2mm aluminium box for a variable speed drive and noticed how quickly I lost the feel for that.
Practice practice practice. You really have to put in the hours to get good at something. Even so, the wealth of knowledge and resources available especially here and on Jody's channel make things a bit easier to understand.

Another poling platform with a leaning post. The top was 42x59. The outside ring for the top was made continuous with one weld to join it. ImageImageImageImageImage

Thats a customers boat. They use it for charters. The platform is for poling the boat on the flats. I dont think they will be fishing up there.

Yes I know. The guide poles the boat and the fisherman in on the bow casting to where the guide sees the fish. Most likely fly fishers.

Little around the house project for the missus on a Sunday afternoon. Somehow those are more satisfying than some big project at work for me.

Are you using a bender, or a jig and oxy-acet torch?

This very high tech jig I liberated from a scrap pipe. O/A torch and wrapped it around. It’s a little trickier to get a smooth even circle than I thought. My first 2 tried were hexagonal more than round.

TD I do have a honey do list and I’m actually not even married  just engaged. Thanks!
