I have a Hobart Champion 16, AC/DC CC/CV machine. What do I need to be able to Tig with this machine?
Can I install a Tig torch directly to the machine or do I need anything else?

You basically have to set up a scratch-start TIG setup with a gas valve in the torch (manual control).

Jody did a few video's on doing just that:

With some 'twists' to make stopping the arc easier:

You won't have HF start unless you get something like an external HF box, so you will need to do scratch start to get the arc to light.

There may have been some sort of amperage remote control for the welder too, but such optional extra's are often 'un-obtanium' for older machines by now so these setups often work on the amps you set on the machine itself and no adjustments as you weld.

Bye, Arno.
