I bought a used Syncro 250 Dx with Integrated cooler from a technical college. It was not in use but the purchase price was decent so i took a swing, paid 850.
I opened the panels to inspect and noticed that there was a part missing ( Miller 215776 Valve, 24Vdc 2Way Custom Port 1/8 Orf w/Frict) and that two black sensor lines were cut. After research my understanding is these lines connect to the part I am missing and all are for the water cooled torch connection.
My question is why this would have been done- if there are known issues with the integrated cooler I should keep in mind.
Is it possible to bypass the internal cooler and use an external cooler , I own a Coolmate 3 currently on a older Syncro 250 (90's).
Any insight / experience is appreciated.
I wish I could say for certain but I think those had a set of contacts that only ran the cooling pump when the torch was welding. I think it was rather common to bypass this so that the water cooler ran all the time.
I have more questions than answers

According to the manual for that welder, that valve is the gas solenoid. The diagram doesn't show any valves other than check valves in the cooler circuitI opened the panels to inspect and noticed that there was a part missing ( Miller 215776 Valve, 24Vdc 2Way Custom Port 1/8 Orf w/Frict) and that two black sensor lines were cut. After research my understanding is these lines connect to the part I am missing and all are for the water cooled torch connection.

I don't see any reason that you couldn't operate an outside cooler ... just make sure you disable the power to the integrated one, drain the tank and hook coolant lines to the outside unit. I'm not sure IF the integrated cooler is used to cool anything inside the welder to cool anything. As far as those 2 white chaffed wires,,put a dab of liquid electrical tape on them, tape over and have at it.
