I'm sure someone will give me some bags of cash one day, simply because I'm a nice guy. Probably the same with your bikes.

That's the spirit!

Well, at the moment I am being paid to ride other people's bikes, so I guess I'm doing okay, really.

Kym, be on the look out for a bead blasting cabinet. If you can find a big, old unit that's cheap, even better, you can upgrade, re gun, hoses, etc, as you go. They make life a whole lot easier for many operations. Like when you have to clean up the backside of a weld where you have burn through, remove rust, mill scale, etc.

New, cheap and small units, always try before you buy !

Good tip kiwi.

I actually have a sandblaster already, just need some blasting media...and a cabinet. But I guess I could make up a cabinet...if I had space to put one in!

That metal looks shiny and bright. The tacks just look big , that's all . Just try more amps to make a quicker puddle and a quick tiny dab of thinner diameter filler ... 045 filler , or some cordless drill spun 035 mig wire . See if you can find similar stuff at the junk yard. Then you can "try" things. Don't forget Kym , we're only doing this a few months ...our's are not gona look like Jody's yet ...haha . Nice project there Kym .

Thanks Sub.

I think that the Mig wire is a good tip. Was doing some more low amp steel last night and there's no doubt that 1.6mm (1/16th) rod is just too thick. I'll see if can steal some Mig wire from my brother.

On the up side, I have been getting my head around Jody's 'rule of 33' for pulse. Small revelation was that my machine doesn't set background amps as a percentage of main welding amps, it just sets them as...amps! So all I need do is calculate one third of main welding amps and set up.

Amazed!

Can weld a bead along the edge of 1.2mm steel no problems without burn through or collapse. More gold from Jody. Really felt like I made some progress last night.
