Which joint would be stronger? I know which would look nicer but is there a difference in the strength? I'm building a cart that will be 2'D X 4'W X 3.5'H. Bottom frame will be 1"x2" aluminum 6061 T6.

If that is angle you are showing, coped or 45'd would be fine.......

What is the cart for and how strong does it need to be? If it doesn't need to critically strong then I would go for pretty.

Which is stronger? Well, kinda neither. You are better off doing a fully open corner joint. Pretty easy joint to weld nicely too.

I'm not sure what you mean by a fully open corner joint. Btw it is a 1/8" thick 1"x2" aluminum tubing.

Oh, I missed that those drawings were square tubing. The copped joint is stronger.
