So my boss got me a gas lens like was suggested here, and it's been working out well. It's amazing to me how some weld beads on stainless stay silver, that or they are the "straw" color I always hear people talking about. I think it welds better in general, although it is hard for me to know how much is me and how much is the gas lens.

I don't have any more of the 11ga to show a comparison with, but the last couple of days I was welding some 1/4" brackets (hinges, actually) to 14ga pans for a food grade conveyor. The extra stick-out allowed by the gas lens has been very beneficial.

So yeah, thanks for the comments. I'll try them all, keep what I like...you know the drill. :D
