Mostly felt like a ramble. Your quote:
"...you gonna turn that into an all day project...?"
Always reminds me of an old friend. He couldn't tolerate inefficient use of time!

It could be worse. My son accuses me of acting like my mother. As an 86, year old she's meaner than average. It's not something I like to hear.

a 3" air grinder with a 1/16" or a 0.045" thickness abrasive wheel will quickly take care of a contaminated tungsten. In fact, that is what I use to chop up a tungsten on purpose for the electrodes on my 24 series torch, which have to be 1"-1.25" in length. I then chuck them up in a 9/20 pencil torch with the collet & collet body only, and use that as a tungsten holder in order to grind the tip without having to use my fingertips so close to the wheel.

John,
That was me that commented by the way, I thought my YouTube name was GreinTime as well hehe... When I read your post here, I thought you meant you already had a video of grinding tungsten up, but alas, you did not! Oh well, subscribed for more! And dude, I'm not gonna lie, when I saw that your other video was titled "How to Castrate a Bull the Right Way" I burst into a fit of laughter so violent the guy walking by my car on the sidewalk asked if I was going to be okay, because it looked like I was having a seizure

Hey Sam,
Sounds funny, I'll be making a video tonight on cooking them up, like chicken nuggets.
It'll be great, stay tuned.
BTW,
Do you want me to inhale some helium???

Here is how I hold my tungstens for sharpening. The air cooled 9 series pencil torch allows a full length 7" electrode to go all the way down the body so long as the power hose is not attached to the torch. Just put the collet & collet body in, tighten and give it a few turns on the grinder, and you're good to go.
. Nice thing about this is you can really put some pressure on it without any danger of the grinding wheel sending a tungsten through your hand.

Hey, Brokeit,
I do notice you haven't commented since page one....
I hope the overwhelming hijack posts (which I'm guilty of participating in) didn't discourage you.
We really CAN help you with TIG. Just keep us on topic.... participate.

I think the regular users here are all guilty of hijacking (I include myself) It does make for interesting conversation and most of the time we still learn something new.

Yes - I never really thought about medical research much - but as I've never met anyone that flexible I can see how a closer study would be of benefit !

All right... Let's "try" to get back on topic, before this gets completely out of hand, and someone complains...
Unlikely, I know, but this isn't the "bending tips and tricks" forum...

Looks like destructive testing to me. Is that not on topic?

It's a shame he has deprived himself of a lot of satisfaction.
