From what I understand it is more if a price increase than a actual shortage. I believe it is just a reason to raise prices across the board. To my knowledge, there has not been a increase in price from the suppliers in the last say 5 years so it is due to happen. We all want a raise now and again, so do the suppliers. My opinion.

anytime my material supplies want an increase the first step is always a shortage scare
then the tell you it will be 20% so when they only raise it 10 % everyones happy.
