That's more than adequate for what it is. If you did it too much better, the factory welds on the frames would look worse. I personally think it's a great job.

Oh man, the look of some of the old welds on this jeep make me mighty proud of my welding abilities, haha! The motor mounts, battery mount, and alot of other things were both welded, AND riveted in place with large 1/2" solid rivets (I didn't measure them, but they looked about 1/2" diameter at the smallest) Apparently they weren't to confident in their welds back then, 70 years ago :D

But dispite the look and age of the old welds, it took a good bit of cutting, grinding and hammering to break them, and same with the rivets. I had to grind the rivet heads down and pound the mess out of them with a 3 or 4 pound hammer and a large punch. You don't tap them out, you pound them out. After 70 years, those welds and rivets weren't going anywhere. I was surprised.

I need to go down to the local metal shop and get some 304 scraps and actually play around tomorrow with some stainless. I guess if I don't fall asleep in psychology I will head over there after class lol

Thanks, Craig! I weld out on the bench. When I'm on a good day, I can do each joint in 4 segments. There were more on those :?

Had a job to relocate security alarm monitoring and CCTV data from one floor of a bank to another. Everything needed to be encased in steel conduit, and all inspection points were fitted with micro-switches to raise an alarm if anything was tampered with.

The dry wall seen in one of the photos consisted of 2 layers of dry wall and still plate laminated in between them.

No cutting, welding or grinding was allowed on site, so everything had to be pre-fabricated and assembled in the roof cavity - "Giant Meccano Set" style, and once assembled, everything needed to start and end at exact locations.

I don't think in my lifetime I have ever heard of anyone ever trying to break into a bank by circumventing the security system. Banks sure do go overboard. Where I'm from they walk in a yell "stick em up". Interesting work though.

Thanks Eldon, yep it was tough. They wouldn't supply any drawings of anything. We just dry measured everything and that's all we had to start with. Anyway the job worked out well, but it sure was a pita.
