Im fairly new to welding in general but my question is how long do you normally wait between passes on 3" and under stainless schd 40-80 i can never seem to end up with a nice cap its laying horizontal when i do my cap so traveling vertical

I wait till you can almost touch it, depends what the WPS says for max inter temps
I weld stainless, stainless and more stainless...Food Industry, sanitary process piping, vessels, whatever is needed, I like to make stuff.

I've been doing a lot of 3-4 inch schedule 10 lately and I usually just turn my heat down as far as I can on my cap after waiting 20 minutes or so. I usually prep another piece in the interim and then know the cap out at about 70 amps.

What position are we talking about?
