Chip in lathe ways.

I recently bought a small Schaublin precision lathe and later found a small chip out of one of the ways. Chip is about 4mm across. Could I repair and would it be worth the effort/trouble, considering this type of damage won't effect the function or accuracy of the lathe?

Use a suitable epoxy filler, such as one of these from Devcon.

Then you wont have the problem of chips/swarf in the recess damaging the wipers.

If, for some reason, you tried to fill the hole, you might be able to get the surface of the filler flat using a burr file or a stone. Machinists use these tools to get rid of irregularities in flat surfaces.
