Welding Tips and Tricks

I thought some of you might appreciate the TIG table we have at where I work, that's a 4 foot by 12 foot slab of 1/2" thick 6061-T6 aluminum. Funnily enough 80-90% of our welding is done with using AlumaPower 350s and push pull guns which are at the other end of the building. And yes, the table draws heat out like you wouldn't believe

I just wish I had room for a table that big

That's a nice table. I had an AL table for years and greatly miss it since going to all steel. It was 1/2" thick, but not as big as yours. Definitely nice to have that heat sinking capability when needed and it also provided a much better ground for tricky parts. Also was nice to not have to dress it or clean it nearly as often. Only downside was how easy it was to gouge the surface when moving heavy parts around on it if care wasn't taken.

Well I also have one in a years pas but it have been spoil now so u need to look careful to get one OK

I don't think I would have room for it at home either, although on the bright side it wouldn't rust, so I could leave it wherever it fit .

Because we don't weld much steel at work I didn't think about it but it definitely would end up gouged up pretty bad if it was used with steel a lot, but it's definitely nice for getting a good ground and not getting bit by HF because of some rust or scale you didn't notice.
