i am doing a few 304/316 bits at the mo.
mostly 1.6mm wall tube. my new welder has a lot more adjustment for pulse which is taking a bit to get my head around.
my old one i used a high pulse setting (no idea what it is) which made it easier to control amps.
i tried the 1.4pps/hz, 85 amps max, 20 amps base, 45% duty (on time). that ended up like a bunch of tacks. maybe travel speed was to high?
i've been running 100pps/hz, 100 amps max, 45 amps base, 45% duty. that works well, nice focus, narrower bead but lacking in penetration.
unfortunately run out of gas before i could try higher amps.
doesn't help we are in lockdown at the mo, so not sure if i can get more gas any time soon.

I have had good results with 85amps, 50% on time, 25% background, 1.2 pps. You may need more amps depending upon filler wire size. If you have good coverage and a purge, there’s no harm in 2 pulse cycles before you advance. The short duration of peak amperage prevents overheating the material.
When autogenous welding, I hit high and quick, very low background, and super slow on PPS. Gives great penetration, and keeps the material cool enough because of arc cycles.

update.
thanks to coldman for his settings, tho i found them a bit cold (bad pun intended). i added 10 amps and its rocking.
(probably my machine).
cranking out the parts today, my god i need more practice.
i got the bandsaw running really well and fit up is good. that makes a HUGE difference.
i'm running 0n 1.6mm 304/316
Pulse 2.5pps
Peak Amps 70
On time 50%
Background current 30 amps
Electrode 3/32"
jazzy 10 cup.

tweak it until it breaks
