Argon Problems

I had a small bottle of Argon and I welded some mild steel and aluminum. The mild steel was really good. So I welded up some bits I was working on. Everything was good and easy. I needed alot more practice on the aluminum. It still looked somewhat alright. Then I got a big bottle - 250 of compressed Argon and I can't weld anything. The welder is a new Miller diversion 180. I have a 3/32 2% thiorated tungston, a #7 tip for steel I was on 20cfh and the metal turned a reddish brown around the weld. Then the aluminum same tungsten with a rounded tip and gas on 15cph with a 3/32 4043 filler rod. The welds were jet black. I was wondering if I got a bad bottle of gas.
