Nick, I tried to delete the duplicate topic, and wiped out both of them, somehow.
Sorry about that... Please repost if you wish.
I'll have a look at arcpig.com, and comment on what I find.

Yep, that's a great way to do it.
HF start should be a no-brainer. I'll have to read a little deeper on the HFAC welding, as I've never done HFAC above 400Hz, and a "simple" tesla coil can easily be in the KHz range and above. (Think radio interference).
This is just from a "glance" at the page, though. I need to read a bit more.

All right, then.
It's a Tesla-coil based arc-starter only, and will not perform an HFAC function for welding aluminum with a DC machine.
It will auto-start DC, and AC, 60, 120, up to 240Hz (and anywhere in between).
That's crazy that it works with stick... Might save a LOT of headache for stick newbies.
Haven't looked at pricing yet, but since they say it'll work with cheap-o Harbor Freight stuff, I'm assuming it's reasonable.
And, whoever answered the FAQ's has a fine sense of humor.

$495 for the base unit which is really all you need except for the torch itself and maybe some tweco twist locks.
