Welding Tips and Tricks

just a few pics of some flanges i welded, some 2" and 3", all welded in position (no rolling), left and right handed.

Your welds are top notch and anybody here would have to study pretty hard to find faults. Judging by what you're welding, I'm guessing that you do this for a living and if not you should. I see Stainless pipe welds all day everyday and those look fine to me. If your open root butt welds look anywhere near that good you should be able to test out in just about any field.

I'm a apprentice at the minute, I've been welding pipe for around 8-9 months, I'm in my second year at the moment.

The face welds on the flanges were made with the aid of the tig finger, so thank you jody.

I used a large bore gas lens for the face welds and a standard one for the neck welds. 100 amps used on the neck welds walking the cup with 2.4 wire.

90 amps on the face welds, with 2.4 wire( I normally use 1.6 but I didn't have any)

304l stainless steel, 150 lb flanges

Well done. The second and fourth pictures demonstrate your "no rolling" left vs. right skills. One would be hard-pressed to guess whether your naturally right- of left-handed. It seems you may be ambidextrous...

After seeing those I have an announcement to make, Tig welder for sale Those look great I might as well sell my tig or never post a picture of my welds on here after that.
