Tig welding 4140 steel

Just had some 4140 dies come in the shop that have been machined incorrectly. The die section is 1" thick, 3.5" long, and 2" wide. I have welded 4140 plenty of times with no trouble but these dies will need to be heat treated after I weld them and re machine them correctly. The 4140 is in annealed condition right now as they sit on the bench. My question is does anybody know if this material can be heat treated after welding, or will my welding prevent it from being heat treated properly. Any help would be appreciated, don't want to weld these and have a problem with heat treat. Will it be safer to just toss the bad ones and manufacture new parts??? Thanks for any advice.

Hey mate. Jody has a few videos on welding 4140. One where he makes spanners going for heat treatment. Use the search engine on the main home page to search for 4140
