For 4" sched 40, my preferred method:

30 degree bevel, no land, 3/32" gap, 3/32", er70 wire, 3/32" electrode.

Root pass: 105amps laywire
Second pass: 110amps (fill the joint)
Cap pass: 125amps (no stringers, single weave cap)

Good luck!

WOW!

An x-ray test on pipe, and you've never hand-beveled before?

And you don't know any of the parameters of the test?

I appreciate the chutzpah it takes to do this.

Please let us know how it goes!

You specifically asked, "Can you give me some parameters to go off of?"

That suggests you don't know the weld parameters.

If you have a WPS, post it up, so we have the same working range you're asking about.
