Have started welding dump tanks together but they warp really bad! Any suggestions on how to stop this? Normally weld around 40 amps 10 lpm argon.

Welcome to the forum! I weld on SS beer kegs for home brewers and ...ahem...others, 18ga. material. Kegs have alot of rounded areas so they don't warp too bad but a good trick is to lay a wet rag near your weld area to draw out the heat. SS doesn't conduct heat worth a damn and it builds up, thus warping. Run shorter beads and be vigilant about removing the heat and you will, at least, minimize warpage.

What type of welder? Tungsten, etc...

I weld a lot of 1.5mm around 55 amps, get in, get out, weld pretty fast with .030" filler. I also will pulse fuse weld stainless at 60-65amps 10-500 pps, 1/16" tung, #8 gas lens
I weld stainless, stainless and more stainless...Food Industry, sanitary process piping, vessels, whatever is needed, I like to make stuff.

Bradles08,

PAY ATTENTION to Rick_H. He does food-grade stuff like this as his main bread-and-butter, is (or is nearing?) a master of the craft, and can help you.

Don't we all!

Anyone who tells you he's a master of his craft is done learning, and is deluding himself. It's for others to define you as a master.

"Do you see a man who excels at his work? He will stand before kings. He will not stand before unknown men."
Proverbs 23:29 (Gideon version)

"Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; He shall not stand before mean men."
Proverbs 23:29 (King James version)
