Hey, im fairly new to tig and was wondering if the angle of the grind on the tungsten makes any diffrence. I know that aluminum needs a round grind, but for steel, how sharp of a point sould i make..

im far from being an expert or pro, but i've noticed when i make the angle on the tip of my tungsten around 2 times the electrode diameter and keep a real sharp point, then its easier to keep a good arc, clean weld, and it seems to make a good controlled weld bead that keeps a good weld pool

The guy that makes this website has some really good advice, and has made my tig welding alot easier. For mild steel, he advises(i think) a very sharp tip, ground(grinded) lenthwise, with a tiny flat end. For me it's made my weld quality go from d- to c+ just by closeley following those tips.

Flame on!
