Have some repairs coming up on truck tool boxes. From research looks like most of these are 5052. Repairing original spray and pray mig welds that didnt penetrate and cracked. I was gonna use 5356 but debating about using 4943. Anyone used 4943 on 5052 thats been in use for awile. If so hows it holding up. I normally weld 3003 and 6061 except the cast stuff. So filler advice would be greatly appreciated for 5052 alloy

Filler I stock in aluminum is
4043
4943
5356
why use standard nozzles after gas lens where invented. Kinda of like starting fires by rubbing sticks together.

I'd use the 5356 personally, it will be stronger down the road with all the vibration and abuse it will see. I've been using the blue gold cleaner guys talked about on here with excellent success on dirty old metals.

I've seen guys post up where they have used 4943 with excellent success but I have not had any experience with it yet. If my understanding is correct 4943 really shows its strength on fillet welds, not a butt seam.
I weld stainless, stainless and more stainless...Food Industry, sanitary process piping, vessels, whatever is needed, I like to make stuff.

Like Rick, I have no experience with the 4943. I hear wonderful things about it, but it's too new for durability reports.

On 5052 in that application, I think you'll have success with any of the rods you listed. I'd think 4043 filler will show itself over time by discoloring differently. 5356 should be a good match in all properties. I'll be interested to hear feedback on 4943.

Me, I'd go 56. I have no experience with the 4943, and it very well may be stronger.
5356 is tried and trued on 5052.
Decisions like this I tend to go with what I know vs. what I don't, regardless of word out there.
