Hello All,

Need help setting up a syncrowave 250 to weld stainless steel. I'm not familiar with the settings. Could any one help me?

Set the polarity to DCEN, don't know what the material thickness is so the amps I can't say.
Post flow depends on amp setting
AC balance to 3 for DC welding as stated on the panel
Arc control to off
Crater time off
Amperage toggle to remote if using a foot pedal
Output to Remote if using a foot pedal
High Freq set all the way up (12 o'clock)

Glad to be able to help.

For stick welding
Choose the correct polarity for your electrode
AC balance leave on 3
Arc Control can be on or off, been many years since I've played with that perhaps someone else can provide more info.
Crater time off
Amperage toggle set to panel which is 12 o'clock (up)
Output set to on
High Freq is off

TIG Aluminum

Set the polarity to AC
Post flow depends on amp setting
AC balance to 3 for balanced arc, towards 10 for more penetration (DCEN), towards 0 for more cleaning (DCEP)
Arc control to off
Crater time off
Amperage toggle to remote if using a foot pedal
Output to Remote if using a foot pedal
High Freq set all the way down (6 o'clock)

I like using the arc control. I run it at about 30 for 7018 and at about 70 for 6011. Jody has a video of this, he runs it high for 7018 as well. Arc control (also known as "dig") controls the amperage when your welding voltage goes down (too short of an arc length) and increases the amperage to prevent rod sticking. If you like to whip and pause with 6010/11, having the arc control turned up really lets you dig the rod into the puddle without sticking it.

It essentially allows you to run a very tight arc without sticking.

There's probably no right or wrong here, but I am always in a range from 5-8 when welding aluminum
