Hello all,
I have been mig welding approximately once a week/once in two weeks for almost a year now.
I have been welding almost each day for a week or two. Tonight I welded this scrap metal tee joint.
Can you give me some advice on what I could do better? Does correct machine adjustment make for les spatter?
Here are some pictures:

If he is, he needs to reverse the cables and run DCEN to help eliminate the spatter.

Beads look good, travel speed is good, consistent tie-ins, heat looks right. Spatter is killing you.

Yes.
And make certain your CWD is tight enough. Spatter can be symptomatic if long arcing it.

Are you pushing or pulling and what settings are you using. Also, what gas? I am going to guess pulling from the look of the weld.

Ok thanks. As far as I know, I can’t adjust the contact tip recess on my gun. But I do try to hold a tight arc

I pushed this one. The Migmaster 250 doesn’t have any digital displays which tell the volts or ipm but I can tell you what I used If that helps. C25 gas

Sometimes you can tap the internal threads on the cup in or out. I’ve also ground down the copper tip to make the adjustment.
I have more questions than answers
