Welding cubicle

I would like to make a welding cubicle to contain the spatter from my flux-cored arc welder. Articles I've read indicate that welding screens or curtains are typically made of thick transparent PVC that protects others from harmful UV radiation. I will be welding in a well-ventilated garage with nobody around me. Therefore there will be nobody to protect from UV. I was thinking of using a fine metal mesh stretched over a light metal frame for the sides of the welding cubicle. Like an insect screen, only made of one or two layers of metal mesh. Any thoughts?

welcome.

that sounds very expensive. i would just buy the existing screens. they are common and fairly cheap.

And spatter from your welding will stick to that fine mesh, or burn through it.i weld in my shop, even flux core, and have not had issue with spatter beyond a foot or two from my work. Sure, the fumes are excessive, but I’ve got ventilation for that.
