Trying to learn to weld aluminum with my miller211 and spool gun
I am doing pretty good with good clean plate
But I bought som 2" angle the other day and some Chanel it is new,
Said to be 6061. Won't weld worth a darn ??
Weld acts like it does on a real dirty plate or something.
Other question is do you get a different weld from a say 252 than the 211?
Or just more amps? Thanks

We need some settings.
Wire size, gas flow, stickout, and is your voltage and wfs set correctly?
How thick is this metal?

The new material may be "clear anodized", which requires a pretty good grind to clean up enough for MIG.
Just a guess. 6061 should MIG about the same (similar settings for the same thicknesses) as 4xxx and 5xxx alloys.

Like AK says, need some settings, and pictures really help us to figure out what might be wrong (!)
