Horizontal Mig Welding???

Anyone have a technique for welding horizontal? Gravity keeps wanting to pull my puddle down.

Metal 1/4" carbon steel. Welding a butt joint one on top of another!

I am guessing that you really mean "vertical" welding? What type of welding are you doing? Mig? Tig? Stick? Would love to help with more info...

I think you're talking about overhead horizontal welding is that correct? If so the trick is to turn the heat down a little and slow down. You want the puddle to freeze almost immediately after moving forward but not so quickly as to cause a cold weld. It's one of the toughest welds to do and takes practice so don't get discouraged if it's causing you problems, they cause everyone problems.
